Siege continues at waste site

The impasse at the Eastern Civic Amenity site looks set to continue.

Legal action by DoLGE is underway to evict the site operator Tel's - so the facility can be handed over to the local authorities of Braddan, Douglas and Onchan.

But Tel's insists it still has a lawful, valid contract to run the site - and is maintaining a 24-hour presence, to ensure DoLGE does not seize possession at night.

On last night's Agenda programme, Tel's boss Terry Murtagh described it as 'Fortress Middle River'.

Mr Murtagh says it's simply unjust his firm is no longer being paid for providing a vital public service:
