Police probe 'hit and run'

by isleofman.com 28th January 2008
Police are looking for witnesses to a hit and run incident on the main Peel Road.

It happened around 5.30pm yesterday (Sunday) in the area of Greeba Bridge when a pedestrian, who was walking on the pavement towards the bridge from the Hawthorn Restaurant, was struck by a vehicle travelling towards Douglas.

The impact threw the walker into roadside bushes but fortunately they were not seriously injured.

It's thought the vehicle involved was a white or cream campervan, although it failed to stop after the incident.

Police say the driver would have been aware of the impact as there would be damage to their vehicle and they're urging the person concerned to get in contact to help with their inquiries.

If you can help, the number to ring is police headquarters on 631212.
