Vagabonds slip up in Shield

by isleofman.com 26th January 2008
Vagabonds B had their Manx Shield ambitions severely dented when they crashed to a 45-8 defeat at old rivals Douglas B.

Vagas started the sharper of the two sides but Douglas quickly hit their straps with tries from Matt Dyson and Daley Watson.

Michael Oates hit back for Vagas with a penalty to leave the score 14-3 to Douglas at half time.

Matt Dyson picked up his second of the day to make it 21-3 early in the second half and, following a brief Vagas comeback when Oates sneaked over for a try to make it 21-8, Douglas killed the game off with tries from Alex Nicholson (two), Phil Garrett and Andy Jones.

At Mooragh Park, league leaders and champions Ramsey kept their foot on the pedal withy a 36-0 win over Castletown.

Stu McConnell, Pete Walkom (two), Louis Higgins and Danny Turner all crossed for tries for Ramsey with Shaun Wyllie and Danny Turner (two) kicking three conversions between them.
