A man who crashed his car while drunk has been banned from driving.

Forty-one year-old John Michael Lord, of Ballawattleworth, Peel admitted driving under the influence.

Police attended an incident on the Poortown Road on January 9 and discovered a car on its roof.

Lord was next to the vehicle and officers arrested him after noting his eyes were glazed and he smelled of alcohol.

At Police Headquarters he provided a breath sample of 57 micrograms, well over the legal limit of 35.

Lord's advocate said he decided to drive following an argument with his wife over babysitting arrangements, and was under extreme pressure after being made redundant.

High Bailiff Michael Moyle fined Lord ?750 with ?80 costs and banned him from driving for 18 months.
