Court criticism for probation service

by isleofman.com 24th January 2008
The High Bailiff has criticised the Isle of Man Probation Service after a man accused of missing three community service sessions appeared before him.

Michael Moyle said he had made it abundently clear that just one missed appointment demanded a court appearance.

And he said he wanted a full explanation from the service as to why that hadn't happened by the end of the week.

Twenty-eight year-old John Frank Summers admitted the breaches, one in November and two in December.

His advocate said he was exhausted and had overslept as a result of starting a new business, taking on a part-time job and sharing childcare.

Mr Moyle said Summers had to make up the lost hours and ordered him to pay an outstanding fine of ?210.
