Victim Support official reflects on case

The victim in the recent indecent assault trial has waived her anonymity in the hope it will encourage others who have suffered similar abuse to come forward.

Debbie Christian was abused by her father Stuart in the early to mid-1980s, when she was between eight and eleven years old.

Earlier this week he was found guilty by a jury of twelve counts of indecent assault and sentenced to four years in prison.

Isle of Man Victim Support's Branch Manager Paula Gelling (pictured), who along with her colleagues supported Debbie and her family throughout the case, says the verdict is still sinking in for them:
