EU free movement must continue

'Fast immigration' is something the Isle of Man should get used to, according to Michael MHK David Cannan.

He was speaking after it was revealed that in the past twelve months more than 9,000 Island work permits were issued or renewed.

They went to people from 67 countries, excluding the United Kingdom.

Mr Cannan (pictured) says free movement of people is a major factor in the European Union, and to stop the process would damage the Island’s economy.

He told David Callister there had always been population change here, but it used to happen over a longer period:
