Man rescued by fire officers

by isleofman.com 21st January 2008
Fire officers wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man from a house in Cronkbourne Village at lunchtime today.

The alarm was raised by a neighbour, who saw smoke coming from the property.

The Fire and Rescue Service says the man had been unaware of the fire in his home, and was led to safety.

The fire was caused by an unattended saucepan, which was removed from the house.

Around the same time crews dealt with a flat fire at Ian Cannell Court, near the TT Grandstand.

Again the cause was an unattended saucepan, this time containing cooking oil.

Smoke was cleared from the flat, using a fan.

Not surprisingly, people using saucepans are being reminded of the dangers of leaving them unattended.
