Fate of old prison still not known

The Department of Home Affairs is stressing that overcrowding at the Isle of Man Prison is still a serious concern.

At the end of last week there were 84 people in prison, including six young offenders and three females and ten adult males are currently occupying cells on the young offenders wing.

The total capacity at Victoria Road is 92, whereas the new facility in Jurby will take 138.

Home Affairs Minister Martyn Quayle (pictured) says it's still not known what will happen to the current building when the prisoners are transferred:
