Indecent assault trial - guilty verdicts

by isleofman.com 21st January 2008
A 66 year-old Bride man has been jailed for a total of four years, on twelve counts of indecently assaulting a child, quarter of a century ago.

Stuart Clayton Christian committed the offences over a period of four years in the early to mid 1980s, when the girl was aged between eight and eleven years old.

Graham Bell reports (text, below, from attached audio file):

Throughout his trial Christian vehemently denied the allegations, claiming they were a conspiracy to ruin his retirement.

But the jurors, five men and two women, returned 'guilty' verdicts on all charges, after retiring for just over two hours.

Christian showed no emotion as the foreman of the jury read out the verdicts, but his victim was in court and broke down.
