MHK wants change to LegCo rules

Members of Legco should play no part in electing the Chief Minister in future.

That's the view of south Douglas member Bill Malarkey - who says MHKs alone should have the job of voting for the Island's political figurehead.

He's tabled a motion to that effect in the House of Keys tomorrow - which also aims to stop MLCs holding office as a minister or Chief Minister.

Mr Malarkey says those who haven't being voted-in by the public should not have a say in such an important decision:
