Ploughing match at Bishop's Court

by isleofman.com 18th January 2008
The 70th Cronk y Voddy Ploughing match is scheduled for this weekend.

It's not the oldest ploughing event on the Island, but the 'Cronky' is one of the best known, and its wasn't even stopped by the outbreak of war in 1939.

The ploughmen continued their competition throughout the war years, despite the fuel restrictions which were in place.

The competition includes horses and vintage tractors as well as Manx and world style ploughing classes.

This year's competition is being held at Bishopscourt Farm, Kirk Michael, from 10.15am on Saturday. It will finish at 3.15pm prompt.

The prize presentation, concert and supper will be at St John's Methodist Hall at 7.45pm.
