The prosecution advocate in the ongoing indecent assault trial called the defendant's explanation for the allegations against him 'laughable' during his closing speech.

Howard Baisden said his client's version of events was backed up by the other prosecution witnesses' evidence.

For the defence, Dawn Jones told the jurors they must be clinical when assessing everything they had seen and heard and mustn't let sympathy influence their deliberations.

The defendant denies all twelve of the indecent assault charges brought against him.

Mr Baisden asked the jury to consider the complainant's demeanour when she gave her evidence on Tuesday.

And he argued there was compelling evidence to show that what she told the court had happened all those years ago was indeed true.

But Ms Jones said much of that evidence was far from definitive and some was even inaccurate or false.

And she said if the jury had even the slightest bit of doubt about any of it, or felt even some of what her client said was true, then they must find him innocent.

The trial resumes on Monday when Acting Deemster Birkett will give his summary to the jury before they retire to consider their verdict.
