English Civil War lecture this evening

by isleofman.com 18th January 2008
The history of the Great Civil War and the dramatic impact it had on Britain will be explored as the Manx National Heritage Winter Lecture programme continues this evening.

Ronald Hutton (pictured), a leading authority on the history of the British Isles in the 16th & 17th Centuries, will speak in the Manx Museum Lecture Theatre, from 7.30pm.

A Professor of History at Bristol University, he believes it was the worst experience the people of the British mainland and its smaller islands ever had, killing more of them than any other war and destroying their view of the world.
