Faulty brake valve caused crash

The Douglas Neighbourhood Policing team has confirmed no prosecution will take place in relation to an accident involving a ProTours coach last October.

The vehicle crashed into a property below Summerhill in Douglas after rolling down from its depot.

After local investigations failed to reach a conclusion, the matter was passed to the Road Transport Research Laboratory in the United Kingdom.

Its report says a fault arose with a brake valve, which couldn't have been identified through the routine maintenance schedule.

Inspector Ken Kneale is satisfied with the outcome of the inquiry (audio file attached):
