MHK hopes inquiry can be avoided

A member of the Tynwald delegation aiming to sort out the dispute regarding access issues at the Langness Peninsula hopes a costly public inquiry can be avoided.

Graham Cregeen was elected to take part in discussions with the landowner after the matter was raised in Tynwald.

The pressure group PRoWL has been in disagreement with television presenter Jeremy Clarkson since he re-routed a footpath around his home, to protect his privacy.

The other members of the delegation are South Douglas MHK Bill Malarky and the member for Michael David Cannan, along with someone from the Attorney General's Chambers.

They will speak with Mr Clarkson and report back to Tynwald with recommendations by April.

Mr Cregeen (pictured) is unwilling to speculate on whether the issue would have generated such interest had the landowner not been a well known television personality:
