Governor's Hill scheme approved

Tynwald has approved expenditure of ?1.25 million for highway improvements at Governor's Hill.

The Court spent the entire morning debating the motion, from Transport Minister David Anderson, and several concerns were raised over the environmental impact and the requirement for such an expensive scheme.

However, the motion was passed 20-3 against in the House of Keys and 6-2 in the Legislative Council.

Members had previously rejected a similar scheme, but Mr Anderson told the Court he believed it was the right way forward:
