ASBO issued after Pulrose crime spate

by isleofman.com 15th January 2008
An Anti-Social Behaviour Order has been issued in respect of a 14 year old youth, described by police as the 'main protagonist' in a spate of crime in Pulrose.

The youth, who doesn't live in the estate, was one of a number of juveniles who have been prosecuted in recent weeks for committing acts of criminal damage, and other offences, stretching back to last summer.

Graham Bell reports (text, below, from attached audio file):

The offences included throwing stones and 'mud-bombs' at moving vehicles. On one occasion the windscreen of a bus was smashed, while it was being driven with passengers on board.

The ASBO was issued by the court with strict conditions, including a ban from the Pulrose estate and a curfew.

Police say the application for the order was made in conjunction with the youth's family.

A media statement says the local community shouldn't have to tolerate such behaviour.

It says officers will do everything they can to ensure acts of criminal damage, and other offences, by a very small minority don't impinge on the quality of life of the law abiding majority.
