Concern over disability legislation delay

A member of the Legislative Council is worried people with disabilities may face discrimination as the wait goes on for new laws.

Tynwald passed the Disability Discrimination Act last year, but George Waft says it may take up to three years to bring it into force.

Specialists need to draft regulations before it can become law, and Mr Waft (pictured) says that process is what’s causing the delay.

He is concerned those with disabilities could face discrimination in the meantime:
