Crossag Farm plans shelved

The Department of Local Government and the Environment says it's 'devastated' its proposal for a major housing development at Crossag Farm, Ballasalla has been refused planning permission.

The decision follows two public enquiries and objections from Malew Commissioners and the Ballasalla and District Residents Association, among others.

The news will be especially hard on tenants of the Clagh Vane Estate in Ballasalla, who stood to be re-homed in the new houses, as their existing accommodation is now considered well below standard.

DoLGE Minister John Shimmin hasn't ruled out lodging an appeal (audio file attached):
