Manx invade Manchester

by isleofman.com 11th January 2008
There will be another strong Manx presence at Saturday evening's Revolution Cycling meeting at the Manchester Velodrome. Mark Cavendish, Peter Kennaugh and Mark Christian compete in the Elite events, while Chris Whorrall and Chris Nicholson take part in the Future Stars competitions.

In Football, the race for the Sure Mobile Premier League resumes after last week's break for the Preliminary round of the Cu Plas F.A. Cup.

St. George's and Peel are clear at the top on 36 points - Geordies lead though on goal difference and have two games in hand.

Both sides play sides from the lower reaches of the table.

St. George's are at home to a Ramsey side smarting from a humiliating F.A. Cup exit to Michael last Saturday.

Peel face western rivals St. John's at Douglas Road.

In Rugby, Ramsey "A" are top of the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield having been awarded the points from today's scheduled fixture with Western Vikings, who were unable to field a team for the second weekend running.

However, Ramsey "B" will go back to the summit if they win at Douglas "B".

In Hockey, it's the start of the Men's and Ladies Leagues. And junior Hockey resumes tomorrow with the under-11 Boys and Girls in action.
