D-Day for amenity site

by isleofman.com 11th January 2008
It's 'D-Day' for the parties in dispute over the future operation of the Eastern District Civic Amenity Site at Middle River, near Pulrose Power Station.

Lawyers for the Department of Local Government and the Environment, local authorities and Tel's Limited have been working to resolve the situation, but as the clock counts down there's no word on whether any progress has been made.

According to DoLGE, Tel's Limited is due to vacant the site today, on the expiry of a notice to quit, issued six months ago. Tel's Limited insists it has a contract to continue running the facility, and the notice to quit isn't valid.

DoLGE, which has responsibility for the site, says Douglas Corporation will be taking over as the new operator from next Monday.
