Ramsey B snatch top spot in Shield

by isleofman.com 5th January 2008
Ramsey B moved into the lead of the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield after a 54-0 demolition of Emerging Nomads at a very blustery Mooragh Park.

Star of the show for Ramsey was ‘Sulby Bull’ Will Keenan who bagged two tries in an impressive all-round performance.

First half tries from Ryan Rhodes (two), Louis Higgins, and Chris King, plus a conversion from Darren Ideson, gave Ramsey B a commanding 22-0 half time lead.

King picked up his second just after the restart before Keenan joined the fray with two quick tries to kill off any resistance.

His first was a powerful drive from close range after his fellow forwards had set up a good attacking field position.

His second was a solo 95 metre run after Ramsey stole from Nomads’ attacking line out.

There was just enough time left for three further tries, two from Higgins and one from Rhodes to seal hat-tricks apiece.

In the only other Shield game to take place, Southern Nomads beat Castletown 74-0 in the southern derby at King Williams Collage.

There were two tries apiece for Rob Keelan, John Sleight, Damian Brand and Andy Lean.

There were also tries from James Hamill, Gerard Landels and Brendan O’Sullivan.
