Mount Murray siren vandalised

by isleofman.com 4th January 2008
Vandals have targeted one of the All Island Public Warning sirens.

The Mount Murray siren was attacked by people who apparently mistook it for the hotel complex’s burglar alarm.

Assistant Emergency Planning Officer Ian Young says it has been repaired, but building work at the hotel means the siren has had to be moved.

A new location has been found, and it's hoped it will be reinstalled as soon as possible.

It means that during tomorrow's (Sat) quarterly test of the All Island system tomorrow, the Mount Murray siren will not be working.

Sirens at thirty of the 31 sites will sound the steady 'all clear' signal for 15 seconds at 11am.
