MHK puts pressure on DHSS

The Michael MHK says the Department of Health and Social Security needs to be answerable to both the Manx public and politicians after a year of controversial issues.

David Cannan says concern about a number of DHSS policies has been evident from the number of calls into the Mannin Line, letters to the newspapers and questions in Tynwald and the House of Keys, which totalled nearly 140 in 2007.

He's put forward a motion for the January sitting of Tynwald calling for members to be able to put their views across about the department and for it to give serious consideration to them and then take appropriate action.
