Drink-drive arrests up

by isleofman.com 2nd January 2008
This year's Christmas Drink Drive campaign has been a great success, although the numbers caught for drink driving have been described as 'staggering'.

By Friday (28th), 25 people had been arrested on suspicion of the offence, of which 18 have been charged, three bailed pending further enquiries and four released after being found to be under the limit.

Head of Roads policing Derek Flint says the operation has been very much neighbourhood-led this year:

This year's campaign finishes on the 4th of January. But Inspector Flint says police cars are on the lookout for drink drivers all year round.
