Jailed for driving offences

by isleofman.com 31st December 2007
A 42 year old man has been jailed for six months by the High Bailiff for a series of driving offences.

Kevin Hughes of Tossaby Road in Foxdale admitted two offences of driving whilst disqualified, one of obstrucing police and two of not having insurance.

The defendant was stopped in Ramsey on July the 11th and again on September the 10th.

Kate Skinner reports:

Hughes' advocate Jim Travers said the defendant was full of remorse. He had driven the car on both occasions out of sheer necessity.

Hughes denied to the police that he had driven the car, because he was angry at being caught, but he did subsequently admit the offences.

Mr Moyle said the offences were serious, it was obvious Hughes paid no attention to court orders and it was clear that he had never held a full driving licence.

He banned him from driving for 12 months and ordered him to take a take a test before driving again.
