Extra facilities required new contractor

by isleofman.com 28th December 2007
The member of Tynwald with responsibility for waste management says it was necessary to seek a new contractor for the civic amenity site at Middle River because of the extra facilities there.

Dudley Butt, MLC, says the contract given to Tel's Limited, for the smaller site at Snugborough, was transferred to the new locatation as an interim agreement, which ran until March 2006.

Mr Butt (pictured) is confident the new operators, Douglas Corporation, will take over as planned, providing additional services early in the new year.

However, he does appreciate why Tel's Limited didn't take on the extra work (audio file attached):

Tel's Limited insists it has a valid contract to continue running Middle River after a six month period of notice expires on January 10.
