The member of Tynwald with responsibility for waste disposal remains confident the new operator of the Eastern District Civic Amenity Site will take over, as planned, early in the new year.
The current operator, Tel's Limited, insists it has a lawfully valid and continuing contract to run the Middle River facility, and that a notice to terminate the present agreement on January 10, is not valid.
But Dudley Butt, MLC, (pictured) says the company has known since November last year that Douglas Crporation would be taking over, and a six months notice to quit will be legally enforced if necessary:
