Call for shorter consultation periods

by isleofman.com 27th December 2007
A Ramsey Commissioner is suggesting a way to bring an end to the uncertainty surrounding the future of the town's Queen's Pier.

Lead Member for Finance Richard Radcliffe says maximum periods for consultation should be set, so the government is forced to make decisions.

A Working Group, chaired by Rushen MHK Phil Gawne, will meet next month to consider material submitted in a recent public consultation exercise on the pier.

Mr Radcliffe was explaining a new draft code of practice on consultation which the commissioners have agreed to support if and when it's introduced.
