Ramsey flood concerns

by isleofman.com 27th December 2007
A Ramsey rate payer has raised concerns over the insurability of properties built in flood zones in and around the town.

The owner of the house, Greenlands in Gardener's Lane, has drawn the attention of the local commissioners to recent calls for insurance to be denied to owners of premises in known problem areas.

He also wants the existing planning approval to develop land at Poyll Dooey to be re-examined.

The commissioners have agreed to refer the Poyll Dooey scheme to the Director of Planning, and the Drainage Division of the Department of Transport.

The board has noted that, to date, no approach has been made by the developer to discuss conditions relating to flood defences.

These must be complied with before any property on the proposed development could be occupied.
