Grill fire in Laxey

by isleofman.com 27th December 2007
A Laxey man had a lucky escape when firefighters rescued him from a fire he had inadvertantly started.

He had fallen asleep at his home in New Road, leaving food under a grill.

Neighbours raised the alert alarm and three fire appliances were at the scene for 40 minutes.

Fire fighters forced their way into the flat where they discovered the man asleep and a small fire in his kitchen.

The man was uninjured and there was little damage to the kitchen or cooker.

The incident happened on Friday evening.
