Clamp down on mobile offences - Hannay

The Director of Highways believes more people in the Isle of Man should be stopped for talking on their mobile phone while driving.

Penalties for the offence are being re-examined following a change in the law in the United Kingdom, where new guidelines could lead to prison sentences of up to two years.

It comes as a new report suggests using a 'hands-free' kits could be just as dangerous as being drunk behind the wheel.
