Cold remedies could land you in court

Over the counter medicines are just as likely to leave you in trouble with the law as illegal drugs.

Inspector Derek Flint, head of the Island's Road Policing Unit says remedies which cause drowsiness can seriously impair driving ability and could lead to accidents.

So far 18 people have been arrested for drink driving, that's two more than for the entire Christmas period last year.

But Inspector Flint (pictured) says motorists forget they don't have to drink alcohol to be a liability on the roads:
