by isleofman.com 15th December 2007
Braddan turned their disappointing league form on its head with a 5-2 victory over Castletown in the GH Corlett Woods Cup preliminary round on Saturday.

After a goalless first half, the home side hit five to stun Town, whose scorers were Ashley Southern and Ben Qualtrough.

Foxdale caused the surprise of the round with a 4-1 home win over Onchan.

Colin Quirk (two), Pete Young and Steven Oliver were the scorers with Declan Murphy netting the Onchan reply.

Michael defeated Pulrose 3-1 in the tie of the round, although Pulrose’s cause wasn’t helped by the dismissal of goalkeeper Andy Glover.

Mike Hammond, Michael Shimmin and Paul Corlett were the Michael scorers with Richard Sharmon netting for Pulrose.

All the goals came in the second half.

Goals from Adam Hawkes, Sam Liver and Carl Breadner secured the Police a 3-0 victory at neighbours Douglas and District, while runaway leaders Colby overcame Jurby with ease led by a hat-trick and a double respectively from goal-getter Josh Kelly and Furo Davies.

Rowan Rimington and Steven Leece grabbed the others in the 7-0 win.

In the other tie, Marown showed their ability with a 4-1 home victory over under-strength Malew – Kevin Pulman, Ricky Lovett, Jeremy Lovett and Kenny McGee were the scorers.

In the only game in CFS Division Two, Ramsey Youth Centre battled well but remain rooted at the foot of the table.

They went down 3-2 at Ronaldsway , whose scorers were Carl Sandland (two) and Dwayne Dawson.
