The league champions St George’s will meet the Railway Cup holders Peel in Boxing Day’s Parkinson Railway Cup Final.

That’s after two exciting semi-finals on Saturday.

The champions showed their class with a 3-2 victory at Laxey.

Indeed, the Geordies had the tie won by half-time after first half goals from Martin Torr, Mark Teare and promising youngster Connor Doyle.

Laxey produced a spirited second half fightback and reduced the arrears just after the break through Ross Williamson.

However, St George’s remained in command of the tie and, although player-manager Rob Sorby struck a late penalty for the Miners, it was too little too late.

Newly promoted Old Boys were another side who battled well but it was holders Peel who showed their experience and character to book a place in the final with a 4-2 win at Blackberry Lane.

Old Boys led twice through Gary Quirk and Robbie Ward before the introduction of Tony Duggan for the westerners changed the game.

Duggan made it 2-2 shortly after coming on and then set up a second goal for
Juan Killip and one for Kerron Christian to seal victory.
