Lecture series continues

by isleofman.com 14th December 2007
As the ancient Scandinavian festival of Yule gets nearer, you can usher in the season by hearing about Manx Vikings this evening.

The Manx National Heritage winter programme continues with a lecture entitled 'Manx Kingship - King Rognvaldr and the Crovan Dynasty'.

The lecture, by Professor Andrew McDonald, will highlight the significance of the Island in the middle-ages as the power-centre for a dynasty of sea-kings and how they were major players.

It will be followed by a short lecture on Manx Vikings by MNH curators Andrew Johnson and Allison Fox, before the launch of Professor McDonald’s book 'Manx Kingship in its Irish Sea Setting 1187-1229'.

The lecture is at the Manx Museum in Douglas, from 7.30am.
