MLC defends festival amendment

An MLC says the promoter of the Peel Bay Festival appears to have a 'very dim view' of Tynwald members after he pulled the plug on the event.

On Tuesday, politicians voted in favour of the Department of Tourism and Leisure drafting a five year business plan with the organiser - an amendment to the original motion based on 'agreeing a three year plan'.

But Mr Irving believes certain politicians have shown little enthusiasm for the event, which is crucial to its future.

Juan Turner MLC, who made the amendment, says members can't afford to be emotional about the scheme - and have to take a business approach:
