OFT pledge on energy costs

The Office of Fair Trading has pledged to help you find the best deal for heating fuels and will encourage you to switch sources if required.

Chief Minister Tony Brown made the announcement to Tynwald during a statement about the OFT's inquiry into energy prices.

Gas prices will continue to be monitored until the end of January so a full year's trading period can be assessed.

Mr Brown (pictured) has asked the OFT to keep petrol and diesel prices under review and inform him if the difference between here and the UK exceeds a certain figure, which is thought to be more than 5p per litre.

And he also announced changes for the Manx Electricity Authority as a result for the OFT's inquiry:
