Prison likely for BBC DJ

by isleofman.com 11th December 2007
BBC radio presenter Andy Kershaw has been told prison is a 'real probability' after he admitted three charges of breaching a restraining order and one of being drunk and disorderly.

The 48 year-old DJ, who lives in Peel, had his case adjourned until January 15 for psychological and social inquiry reports, and a report from the drug and alcohol team.

However, High Bailiff Michael Moyle told him prison remained a real probability and that he would have no hesitation in revoking bail should Kershaw further breach the restraining order, which prevents him from contacting his former partner.

The court heard he committed breaches on October 2, at Peel breakwater; in text messages between November 25 and 28; and in phone messages between November 5 and 7.

Some of the text messages were sent to Kershaw’s children and Mr Moyle told the defendant if he had any genuine feelings of love for his children, his behaviour towards their mother could alienate him.
