'DHSS targets most vulnerable' - claim

A local union says cancelling a contract to transport people with learning difficulties to day care centres is 'targeting the most vulnerable members of society'.

The Douglas shipping branch of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers Union has asked the Trade Union Council to communicate with government on its behalf, after learning of the cuts.

The DHSS says it will save ?160,000 a year after dropping its contract with local firm ProTours.

The union's Branch Secretary Alan Chalmer (pictured), who works for ProTours, believes patients are being let down (audio file attached):
