Festival petition hits target

by isleofman.com 8th December 2007
An online petition in support of staging a regular large-scale music festival in the Isle of Man has reached its target of 1,000 signatures.

It was set up after the Department of Tourism and Leisure decided not to underwrite next year's event, which was subsequently cancelled by organisers Street Heritage.

The petition will be handed over before the start of next week's Tynwald sitting, at which members will consider a motion from Speaker of the House of Keys, Steve Rodan.

He wants the Department of Tourism and Leisure to look at proposals for future development of the festival, and agree a three year business plan.
