Commissioners' support

by isleofman.com 5th December 2007
Castletown Commissioners have added their support to a politician’s bid
to save an eighteenth century house in Douglas.

South Douglas MHK Bill Malarkey has collected a 1,500 strong petition to
save Farmhill Manor, which was converted in the 18th century from a Manx farmhouse dating back to 1430.

Heritage Homes is attempting to have it removed from the protected buildings register in order to redevelop the site.

At Monday night’s board meeting, commissioner Derek Cain urged support for Mr Malarkey (pictured) and said developers invariably got what they wanted because they were able to wear the planning system down.

The board is to write a letter of support.
