Mayor condemns vandals

Vandals are being condemned for a spate of mindless damage to public property and private cars over the weekend.

Expensive repairs will have to be carried out on public toilets on Douglas Promenade which have been wrecked, while ten vehicles were damaged in a spate of attacks on cars in Kirk Michael.

There have also been complaints about nuisance knocking at homes on a Peel estate and unruly youngsters on buses.

Inspector Ken Neil from the Douglas Neighbourhood Policing Team says they've adopted a victim-focused approach which, despite recent events, is paying dividends.

Meanwhile, Mayor of Douglas Colin Cain (pictured) says vandalism to public property costs the rate-payer dear, and is an unpleasant fact of life:
