Questions on Solway Harvester

by isleofman.com 3rd December 2007
Any cost to the Manx tax payer of maintaining the Solway Harvester will be revealed in the House of Keys tomorrow.

North Douglas MHK John Houghton will ask whether maintenance of the scallop dredger is being undertaken by a contractor and, if so, what role they perform.

The question is directed at Chief Minister Tony Brown, who will also be asked to reveal the weekly and accumulated costs since the vessel was moored in Douglas Harbour.

The inquest into the deaths of the seven crewmen on the Solway Harvester was adjourned in January, while ways were explored of taking evidence from the owner of the vessel.

The authorities in the Isle of Man have said the Solway Harvester will remain in Douglas Harbour until the inquest has concluded.
