New Freemen of Douglas

Two new honorary Freemen of the Borough have been appointed.

Former councillor and mayor Alfred Duggan and current councillor George Chatel have both received the honour.

95 year-old Mr Duggan was a councillor for 16 years and a former Mayor, as was 72 year-old Mr Chatel who has served on the council for Victoria Ward since 1982.

He’s been a tireless charity fundraiser for most of that time:
