Commissioners back Peel festival

Support for the organisers of the Peel Bay Festival is growing.

Promotor Jonathan Irving hit out after the Department of Tourism and Leisure refused to provide a guarantee of up to ?250,000 against another event in 2008.

Close to 800 people have now signed an online petition backing the staging of a large-scale event.

Chair of Peel Commissioners, Pat Sweeney (pictured), says 'Freedom to Flourish' clearly doesn't apply in the west of the Island:
