Villa bowling green row

The Tourism and Leisure Minister was accused of 'acquiring the dead hand of bureaucracy' in the House of Keys this morning, over studies to replace the Villa Marina Bowling Green with a car park.

In July Douglas Bowling Club rejected a five year lease from the department because of concerns about cost.

Minister Adrian Earnshaw says his officers have been considering the site to solve the lack of car parking in the Villa Marina complex.

Douglas South member Bill Malarkey asked the Minister for his long-term plans for the facility, and pointed out that it is a well-used green:
