Deposits continue to increase

The Financial Supervision Commission has revealed the Island’s banks are holding more cash than ever before.

Between June and September, the amount of money held in the Isle of Man rose by more than ?1 billion, to stand at slightly more than ?50 billion.

That’s a 24 per cent rise on the figures from September 2006.

The figure for deposits, including those held with overseas branches of Manx banks, rose by a similar amount to take the total to ?62.25 billion.
