No music festival in 2008

There’ll be no Peel Bay Festival next year.

The news has been confirmed by event promoter Jonathan Irving after his request for government to underwrite the event, scheduled for next June, was turned down.

Last week in Tynwald, Tourism Minister Adrian Earnshaw said the potential cost to the taxpayer meant it wouldn’t be a good use of government money.

And Mr Irving says that's left him with little choice:
